Description Afexa Life Sciences Inc. is looking for a Scientific Affairs Coordinator for their Corporate Office located in Edmonton. Reporting directly to the Director, IP and Scientific Affairs, the Scientific Affairs Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the product development initiatives for Asian markets. This role will involve direct contact with the R&D, Regulatory, and Clinical departments and will provide support for business development initiatives in Asia. The Coordinator will merge their scientific background with their business acumen to guide projects through complex regulatory and business development pathways.

Duties Include:
  • Coordinate the product development process for new product registrations in the Asian markets;
  • Coordinate and disseminate information to third parties;
  • Perform business, market, and scientific research;
  • Create summaries and contribute to strategic planning documents; and
  • Other duties as required.
Education/Experience Required:
BSc in Chemistry, Biological or Medical Sciences. A Graduate level University degree in business or science will be considered an asset.

Duties Include:
  • Manage creative requests from multiple departments;
  • Provide direction and manage timelines for 2 Graphic Designers;
  • Review, edit and proof all marketing materials;
  • Work with and manage outside vendors;

Description Afexa Life Sciences Inc. is looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) Associate for their Corporate Office located in Edmonton.  Reporting directly to the Director, Clinical and QA, the QA Associate will carry out all GMP related functions.  The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in Operations, QC, Regulatory and Technical Development Departments.

Duties Include:
  • Reviews all GMP related documentation for accuracy, compliance and completeness.  These may include:
    • Production batch records;
    • QC data related to product manufacturing, testing and release;
    • CAPA, Deviation and non-conformance reports;
    • Labels, product specifications, master batch records, etc;
    • Vendor qualification files;
    • Stability studies; and
    • Validation protocols and reports.
  • Maintains a highly organized and cross referenced GMP document system;
  • Maintains tracking systems for all GMP related documentation;
  • Prepares for and participates in internal and external auditing;
  • Schedules, plans and trains staff on GMP and quality assurance related procedures;
  • Assists with the continuous improvement of quality systems and written procedures; and
  • Other duties as required.
Education/Experience Required:

Title Lab Operations Admin Assistant

Description Afexa Life Sciences Inc is looking for a Lab Operations Admin Assistant for their Corporate office located in Edmonton. The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, high-energy and reliable. This position will interact with several people on the team. The main responsibilities will include interacting with the scientists to properly manage chemical inventory and waste, shipping and receiving for the entire department and general facility help. Working experience in a chemistry lab environment with some working knowledge of accounting is preferred. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is eager to learn and grow in this position.

Duties Include:
  • Maintain purchase order log for lab operations;
  • Receive lab supplies from vendors and file the package slips;
  • Update purchase order log for the receiving status;
  • Complete monthly lab operations expense summary for Manager reviewing;
  • Maintain and update site inventory of the laboratory supplies;
  • Coordinate and schedule lab equipment calibrations and repairs;
  • Maintain and update lab safety documentations such as MSDS and internal SOPs;
  • Schedule meetings and lab staff training;
  • Arrange travel bookings for all R&D personnel and process expense claim for the dept head and managers;
  • Maintain communications with external vendors;

  • Utilize your relationships with journalists (reporters) and displays a proven ability to successfully pitch story ideas to your contacts;
  • Develop communication vehicles including, new releases and other writing assignments as required;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Description Afexa Life Sciences Inc. is looking for a Financial Reporting Specialist for their Corporate Office located in Edmonton, Alberta. As the Financial Reporting Specialist you will be a key player in the Company’s IFRS conversion project. You will review, compare, and recommend accounting policies including technical research and documentation of accounting policies under IFRS.

Duties Include:
  • Leading the Company’s IFRS conversion project;
  • Reviewing, comparing and recommending accounting policies from Canadian GAAP to IFRS;
  • Completing technical research and documentation of accounting policy choices available to the Company;
  • Developing financial disclosure notes and reconciliations;
  • Developing policies and procedures to ensure all financial information required under IFRS is accurately captured;
  • Working with the information technology group to ensure the accounting system is configured to capture all required financial information required for IFRS;
  • Providing training within the accounting group and to other departments within the Company on the impacts of the IFRS transition;
  • Supporting the team as required in completing monthly consolidations and supporting schedules;
  • Ensuring internal controls over financial reporting are adhered to, develop, implement and maintain new controls as required under IFRS;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The successful candidate will be a qualified professional accountant with an accounting designation CA, CMA, or CGA with a post secondary accounting Degree.

Title Junior Graphics Designer

Description Afexa Life Sciences Inc is looking for a Junior Graphics Designer for their office located in Mississauga for a term of one year. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the primary purpose of this position is to develop and manage our online graphic design needs and also assist the Senior Graphic Designer in print, packaging and display projects. The Junior Graphic Designer will play an integral role in the creative design of our online marketing initiatives. He/she will help to create an outstanding brand experience and engage our audiences through targeted, thoughtful marketing collateral that achieves the goals set out in our marketing briefs.

Duties Include:
  • Design and create digital collateral such as banner ads, landing pages and micro sites;
  • Update external websites using content management systems as well as editing HTML;
  • With guidance from Senior Graphic Designer, work on print collateral such as brochures, sell sheets, direct mail pieces, magazine and newspaper ads, packaging and store displays;
  • Work from art direction provided by the Senior Marketing Manager and Assistant Marketing Manager, as well as create fresh concepts and generate new ideas independently;
  • Collaborate with the creative team to develop strategies for reaching marketing campaign goals; and
  • Other duties as required.
Education/Experience Required:
  • Post secondary education in graphic design and 1 - 2 years of industry experience, with web AND print projects (design and production). Note: or an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and experience;
  • Strong technical skills in a PC environment, and good working knowledge of Adobe CS4 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver, CS2 or CS3) and Microsoft Office;
  • Some working knowledge of HTML and CSS an asset; and
  • Experience implementing usability and online marketing best-practices an asset.
