Thomas Schlader – President and Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Schlader has worked within the pharmaceutical industry since 1979 and joined Valeant  in 1993. He is currently President of Valeant Canada Limited. He was appointed President and CEO of Afexa on October 18, 2011. 

Michael Obert, LLB - Chief Legal Officer & Senior Vice President Corporate Development
Mr. Obert is an experienced corporate-commercial lawyer. He specializes in the technology/biotechnology field with wideranging expertise in, among other areas, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures/collaborations, private and public financings, licensing, corporate governance and securities law. Prior to joining Afexa Life Sciences, Mr. Obert was a partner with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP where he practiced law for 30 years. Mr. Obert is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Upper Canada and is a graduate of the University Of Toronto Faculty Of Law. Among his responsibilities at Afexa Life Sciences, Mr. Obert serves as an adviser to the Board of Directors. Mr. Obert joined Afexa Life Sciences in February 2010.  

Tracey Ramsay, HBSc, MBA – Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President Sales
Tracey Ramsay has an extensive sales and marketing background with 18 years experience in the bioscience and pharmaceutical industries. Tracey has held various executive positions in the past including responsibility as Vice President of Sales, Vice President of Marketing and General Manager within large multi-national pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Tracey graduated from Queen’s University with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree and has a Masters in Business Administration from Dalhousie University in International Business and Marketing. She is married and lives in Toronto with her husband and two children. Ms. Ramsay joined Afexa in January 2011.  

Jacqueline J. Shan, PhD, DSc, ICD.D – Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Shan was awarded a PhD with distinction in Physiology from the University of Alberta and received a Doctorate of Science in Pharmacology from Peking Union Medical College. In 1992 she co-founded CV Technologies Inc. (CVQ) in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada renamed Afexa Life Sciences Inc. in April, 2009. In the early days, Dr. Shan assembled an inhouse team of scientists with expertise in pharmacology, neurochemistry, immunology, process engineering, phytochemistry, analytical chemistry, Western and traditional medicine. She led the company’s research, product, and technology development and commercialization programs, resulting in the creation of ChemBioPrint technology, COLD-FX, REMEMBER-FX, CELL-FX, and other products. She is the architect of the Company’s core strategy of using clinical trials and science to differentiate itself in the natural therapeutics industry. Dr. Shan previously served as President and CEO of Afexa Life Sciences and led the Company’s successful transition from R&D to full commercialization and profitable sales between 2003 and 2008. She has authored and co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and is an inventor and co-inventor of more than 20 national and international patents. Dr. Shan has obtained her ICD.D designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors.
